Coffeehouse Film Review

UPDATE 08/29/11 - We decided to keep our options open, and am holding an alternate domain name for The Coffeehouse Film Review, TheCoffeeHouseFilmReview.Com, for the owners of the film festival. If requested, we may give it to them free of charge, with no strings attached. We want their latest film festival to succeed, and obtained the domain name so that no one else could cybersquat it (oddly, they did not have the foresight to obtain the domain name before branding their event. We saved them from making a mistake).

SCHEDULE AND PLAYLISTS

NOTE 11/09/11 - You, our readers, are our eyes and ears. Let us know what you think at tampabayfilm@yahoo.com. We will be reviewing this monthly film festival on Tampa Bay Film soon, and we need your feedback!

Time
Thursday, November 10 · 7:00pm - 10:00pm

Location
The Buzz
710 Harbour Post Drive
Tampa, Florida

Information
The next Coffeehouse Film Review will be held on Thursday, November 10 at 7 p.m. at The Buzz, located at 710 Harbour Post Drive across from Café Dufrain on Harbour Island. It will then be held every second Thursday of the month.

This monthly film festival is dedicated to showcasing local independent short films. It has won two Best of the Bay Awards for its impact on the local independent film scene (Ed note: Which wasn't much of an impact at all. When you are the only thing going on, you will win by default, flaws and all. This new and "improved" monthly film festival should be different enough to not be compared to the old one, and if it is like the old CFR and TFR, it has flaws).

NOVEMBER 2011 COFFEEHOUSE FILM REVIEW FEATURED FILMS

November’s films will include:

The Trap by Marcus Kempton
Four people wake up in a strange place with no memory of how they got there and realize they are being hunted. (Please note that Tampa Bay Film editor C. A. Passinault talked to Kempton about The Trap, and he told Passinault that he was re cutting the film. This is not believed to be a second screening at the CFR, and it is believed that The Trap was cut from last months playlist, which would mean that this is the re cut version.) – 15 minutes

The Open Door by John Matheny
Fred Nuttle had suffered a nervous breakdown and is susceptible to panic attacks. His shrink has suggested that he 'get away' for some rest and relaxation. His sister convinces him to spend some time at her condo in Florida. He is not prepared for what he encounters when he meets the twin nieces of one of his sister's friends. – 12 minutes

Fresh Arrangement by Monica Bassi
Karina, and Americanized girl of Indian descent, is set up on a blind date with Suraj, a guy who is 'fresh off the boat' from India. Through a series of events that take place throughout dinner we witness their ideas about love, and each other, transform. – 17 minutes

And more! (Ed note: For the sake of the organizers and the history of this revamped film festival event series, we strongly recommend that all films that are being shown should be announced. Three shorts clocking in at 44 minutes hardly fills a three hour event. There should be a lead time of at least two to three months so that the playlists are always filled; none of this "bottom of the barrel" scraping, last minute crap which plagued the old Coffeehouse Film Review and the Tampa Film Review monthly film festival events, where the audience was tortured by being forced to watch poor indie films. No more of this "and more" crap, as when these events are documented and reviewed on Tampa Bay Film, we are going to go by the announced playlists; We are sure that the filmmakers whom submit their films to the new and "improved" Coffeehouse Film Review want to get their names out there and be promoted effectively. If you are a filmmaker, and you fall through the cracks and are not announced, you need to get on the case of Paul Guzzo and Pete Guzzo to effectively promote YOU!)
